2. Can you please explain Equity Shares and Share Capital?

Equity Shares and Share Capital are one and the same. Credit Unions have shareholders, however our shareholders are our members, unlike the large financial institutions where you are a customer and most shareholders are large corporations. Each member, upon joining All Trans must purchase 20 shares valued at $5.00 each. This totals $100 and is your share in the credit Union. It remains in an account called Equity Shares and when dividends are paid they are deposited here. This is your stake in All Trans Financial Services Credit Union , and will be returned to you upon death or the closing of your account. Being a shareholder gives you privileges, opportunities and responsibilities. As a shareholder you have the privilege of attending our Annual General Meeting and voting in the election of new Board members and the acceptance of new by-laws. As a shareholder you have the opportunity to contact anyone at All Trans whether you have a concern or would like to pass on a compliment or query. Finally as a shareholder you have a responsibility to your fellow members. Encourage them to use services and to not abuse services. Remember that your actions as a shareholder have a direct impact on the profit we are able to return to you in the form of dividends.
