Meet Elaine Bell, All Trans Board Member. |
Elaine Bell comes to our board of directors from the All Trans family, with the credit union running in her family’s blood across generations.
“My father worked for the TTC for 34 years, and he was a big believer in the credit union,” Elaine explains. “We’ve got a lot of history here, my parents even got the mortgage for their first house here, back in 1958.”
All Trans and other related projects span for generations in Elaine's family, from her father to her grand children. She is always looking to grow the All Trans family in bigger and better ways.
“There’s a lot of loyalty you feel when you get together with an organization that treats you with respect, that makes you part of the family,” Elaine says. “You get loyal to that, you want to carry it forward. My grandson was just born in January, and I made him a member, I started him with our Fat Cat account. My children have accounts here, they know the history, they know how important it can be.”
Elaine has been a big part of All Trans, and its various subsidiary credit unions, for more than three decades, and believes in the power of having good people on your side, looking out for your financial well-being.
“I started as a rep with Grey Coach line, for Interurban Bus Credit Union, in 1974, and worked with them until coming to All Trans, and now I’ve spent three terms on the board of directors,” says Elaine. “I think the most important thing All Trans provides is a caring staff that is here to sit down with you and work out whatever solution is best for your banking. Our staff is so knowledgeable, so dedicated, you can come in, sit down and have a coffee with one of our staff, and get down to what is important to you. It makes all the difference, when you’re treated like a person and not just a number.”
Elaine also values the opportunity being on the board of directors provides her to fight for the best interest of All Trans’ members.
“Our chequing accounts, we’ve fought to keep fees low, because we know that’s what members want,” says Elaine. “It isn’t just a chequing account anymore, it’s a complete experience.
“And our mobile money managers, we were the first to do that. We reach out to you, we go out to stations, we don’t wait for members to come to us, we’ll do that distance to go to them.”
